A new YouTube video about prepping a toroid.

Last week I received an email from Patrick ON4CDJ he was asking me to break down the solder blob method I use to strip off the coating on the magnet wire. So instead of writing a  long post with pictures I decided to put a video together. So here it is and do email me if you have questions or something you would like to see added.

  1. Hi Mike,

Well thank you for all the time you spent to explain the solder blob method in this video ! Now it's clear to me and how it you said, a video is worth 2000 words ! :-)
I really appreciate your work and efforts to make this all clear for toroid newbies like me.
No doubt there will be other newbies like me who will watch this video and they will see the light ! hi hi :-)

Again, thank you so much Mike, and now it's up to me to practice this.
I'll let you know how it went !

    73 thanks a lot !

    1. Good morning Patrick, I had a fun time doing it and I am glad that it cleared things up for you regarding toroids.

  2. Thanks for this video. I had been using a lighter and sandpaper while building my Norcal 40A and getting (ahem) less than optimal results. This looks soooo much easier. My K2 just shipped yesterday and I will be using this method for that build.

    Thanks and 73

  3. Good afternoon Jim, sorry about the late reply but I just check this blog now and then for comments. It's GREAT that you have a K2 on the way and now I imagine almost built! Do email my personal email and let me know how the build is going or how it went?
